  • Avoid DMCA Notices: How to Play Music on Stream, NOT on VOD

Get a VPN you wildebeests: teksyndicate.com/pia/ Twitch has been a crazy place recently thanks to the RIAA and their attack on culture. Creators have been getting DMCA notices like crazy. This mostly happens because the RIAA uses software to scan through the VODs and flag them for copyrighted music. Twitch doesn’t defend you at all, they just release the video. At this point the RIAA isn’t scanning live streams (though we have heard of a couple rogue cases). If only you could remove the music just from the VOD while keeping it in for the stream. YOU CAN. The video will show you how to make it happen. Above is the easy version for people who just want to remove the music and not fuss with anything else. Here is the advanced version for users who want to understand what is really going on… and maybe isolate and map a few more audio channels: www.youtube.com/watch?v=te0axIQvTYg Important Links & Software: Soundtrack Beta – Twitch VB-Audio VoiceMeeter Banana PC Gaming Gear & Nerdy Apparel | Epic Pants Category: Hardware | Epic Pants

  • Logan Destroys Ben Shapiro “Breaking Down” Net Neutrality

Ben Shapiro shouldn’t deserve to be legitimized or even recognized. However, his recent statements regarding net neutrality have been sent to me by more than a few people. I’ve even see some say, “If Ben says something then it’s right.” I understand that many are too lazy to think for themselves so they’d rather have a hateful weasel do it for them. However, this is bigger than any of that. We don’t need bullshit like this spreading around online. The internet is too important. Here are some reference links: Internet backbone as of 1992 shown here: hothardware.com/news/net-neutrality-slated-for-december-14th-vote qz.com/256586/the-inside-story-of-how-netflix-came-to-pay-comcast-for-internet-traffic/ Chad Henshaw’s comment to this insane post is great: https://www.attpublicpolicy.com/broadband/who-should-pay-for-netflix/ Feel free to share some more links. • The Best VPNs: Our Top Five | Speed, Privacy, Logging, Jurisdiction, Etc.

This day and age, it is very important to have a VPN.  As it stands, your ISP can see everything you are doing, and they log it for six months or more. This information is there, waiting to be sold, subpoenaed, etc. So, you really need that VPN. First, a VPN allows you to browse the internet privately. It creates an encrypted tunnel to a different server, then you browse the internet from there. So, you use their client (or openVPN) and connect to their server. Your ISP (and other prying eyes) just see a raw stream of data. They don’t know if you are browsing Reddit, watching YouTube videos, or shopping for snakeskin jackets. They have no clue. Check out the video for all the information on our favorite VPN providers. Let us know what you think in the comments. • Killing Net Neutrality: The FCC & The Big ISPs Plan For the Internet

There are three kinds of people: Those who understand technology, those who are clueless, and those who will do anything for money. Most of the people in key, decision making positions are in the third category (including FCC chair, Ajit Pai). This isn’t going to be a full article, the rest of the internet has written plenty on the subject. Instead, I’m going to list out everything this FCC would like to accomplish (as I see it). Let’s not forget that Ajit Pai’s FCC is basically a subsidiary of the big players in the ISP field at this point. He used to be a lobbyist for them and is still acting that way. He ignores the public 100% of the time, has allowed Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, etc. to basically ghost write everything, and seems to have an agenda that would set us way back compared to the rest of the world. So, what does this FCC want to do? Let’s get started: Remove blocks that keep single companies from owning all the local TV stations – Done this morning Reverse net neutrality – the implications here are huge Block local and municipal internet (they will fight this on every level) …

  • Firefox is Back | Firefox Quantum is “Faster Than Chrome”

I am writing a post using Firefox; dawn of a new day. I’ve always used Firefox for front-end development because it is light years ahead when it comes to viewing source, messing with CSS in the browser, but it was always slower and clunkier than Chrome. Here is a short list of what Mozilla is claiming about Firefox 57 (Quantum): A new engine that is 2x faster 30% lighter than Chrome, the RAM eater Private browsing and tracking protection New standards for extensions (many old ones will stop working) See the rest here: www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ In my own testing, I am seeing that it is neck and neck with Chrome, but slower in HTML5. Hopefully the team at Mozilla keeps moving in this direction. Here’s a major benefit: you can move away from the “all seeing eye” of Google and start using a browser from a company that has a much better track record (Mozilla). The privacy features are nice and the company credo is one about community and progress over data monitoring and profits. You can stop relying on Google to save your passwords, bookmarks, etc. (all things they use to paint a picture of your digital life) and start …

  • Canadians To Back Up Entire Internet – To Save it From Trump

The library of Alexandria, Library of Antioch, Xianyang Palace, “the history of libraries is one of loss.” This quote comes from the Internet Archive of Canada. The recent election of Donald “Ragnarok” Trump has them worried about the future of the internet and they do not want to see history repeat itself. So, they have decided to backup the entire internet. I’m going to leave the politics out of this and let everyone argue on their own. The mission is lofty: to give everyone access to all knowledge, forever. They have already worked on the Wayback Machine, but they need to raise millions to make this happen. Historically archiving the internet will require petabytes of data and some insane infrastructure. If they achieve their funding goals I will ask them for a tech tour. The catalyst aside, I hope they make this happen. Check out their blog here: Oh Canada! Here’s a link to their donation page: Donate to the Internet Archives
