How to Mine Turtle Coin (Monero, Aeon, Etc.) With XMR-Stak Unified Miner

If you have a GPU and take breaks from gaming, why not mine something. This video is a very basic tutorial and is not really geared toward mining pros. This info is easy to get on your own, but sometimes a video is a good way to start conversations, motivate, or initiate someone into the mining world. Disclaimer: We are totally against the price gouging of GPUs and think it is fault of the retailers and vendors. Now let’s get some links going: Turtle coin: https://turtlecoin.lol – wallets here The XMR-Stak Unified Miner: https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak Direct Download for the above: https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/releases/download/v2.2.0/xmr-stak-win64.zip Current mining pools:…

PC Gaming VS GPU Mining: Logan’s Two Cents | Rant:30

This week, Jay from JayzTwoCents made a video titled, “Is Crypto Currency Killing PC Gaming”. It’s sensational and it panders to the PC Master Race community, but it does little to address the problem (not much does and it sucks). It’s merely a circle jerk for hits. We have our own sensational video where we both agree and vehemently disagree with Jay’s righteous stance. Basically, we are all for gaming and all for crypto currency. Check it out and let’s get this discussion started.  Keep it civil. Logan Destroys Ben Shapiro “Breaking Down” Net Neutrality

Ben Shapiro shouldn’t deserve to be legitimized or even recognized. However, his recent statements regarding net neutrality have been sent to me by more than a few people. I’ve even see some say, “If Ben says something then it’s right.” I understand that many are too lazy to think for themselves so they’d rather have a hateful weasel do it for them. However, this is bigger than any of that. We don’t need bullshit like this spreading around online. The internet is too important. Here are some reference links: Internet backbone as of 1992 shown here: hothardware.com/news/net-neutrality-slated-for-december-14th-vote qz.com/256586/the-inside-story-of-how-netflix-came-to-pay-comcast-for-internet-traffic/ Chad Henshaw’s…

The Best VPNs: Our Top Five | Speed, Privacy, Logging, Jurisdiction, Etc.

This day and age, it is very important to have a VPN.  As it stands, your ISP can see everything you are doing, and they log it for six months or more. This information is there, waiting to be sold, subpoenaed, etc. So, you really need that VPN. First, a VPN allows you to browse the internet privately. It creates an encrypted tunnel to a different server, then you browse the internet from there. So, you use their client (or openVPN) and connect to their server. Your ISP (and other prying eyes) just see a raw stream of data. They…

Killing Net Neutrality: The FCC & The Big ISPs Plan For the Internet

There are three kinds of people: Those who understand technology, those who are clueless, and those who will do anything for money. Most of the people in key, decision making positions are in the third category (including FCC chair, Ajit Pai). This isn’t going to be a full article, the rest of the internet has written plenty on the subject. Instead, I’m going to list out everything this FCC would like to accomplish (as I see it). Let’s not forget that Ajit Pai’s FCC is basically a subsidiary of the big players in the ISP field at this point. He…

Firefox is Back | Firefox Quantum is “Faster Than Chrome”

I am writing a post using Firefox; dawn of a new day. I’ve always used Firefox for front-end development because it is light years ahead when it comes to viewing source, messing with CSS in the browser, but it was always slower and clunkier than Chrome. Here is a short list of what Mozilla is claiming about Firefox 57 (Quantum): A new engine that is 2x faster 30% lighter than Chrome, the RAM eater Private browsing and tracking protection New standards for extensions (many old ones will stop working) See the rest here: www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ In my own testing, I am…

Blizzard Mocks EA and Pay-to-Win Microtransactions In New Video

Blizzard, right on the heels of the EA turmoil, has released a commercial for now free to play StarCraft II. The timing is interesting but Blizzard was surely working on this before the EA drama on Reddit. Here is the video: Blizzard is an AAA developer and they are damn good at making money. This puts them in an interesting position. They have spoken out against pay-to-win and will now be held to that standard by the community. Whenever a developer/publisher as large as Blizzard releases something free I am always looking for the catch. It looks like StarCraft II…

EA Will Reach 1 Million Reddit Downvotes for Defending Microtransactions

I present, the most downvoted comment in Reddit history: This was posted in response to outrage regarding how much unlocking new characters would cost (It’s about twice what you’d expect to pay for a very polished, new indie game). To be fair, you can earn enough points to unlock new characters… after about 40+ hours of gameplay. The bottom line here is that EA makes way more money with the new business model of micro-transactions than they ever did when standard game sales. It is the future of AAA gaming. The gaming industry is larger than the film industry now.…

Making Chiptune Metal on Daemon Slayer | What I Used

You want know how to make chiptunes? How about how to make chiptune metal? These tools might help. The latest album was a bit of a departure in sound, though not in mood. It took some finagling to get the sounds used on the album, and I’ve received a few questions regarding this.  I’m not going to share all the secrets (mainly because some of it was complicated beyond the scope of an article), but I’ll let you know what VST plugins I used for the chiptune sounds and what effects VSTs I used on them (all links will be…

MSI GTX 1070 Ti Benchmarks VS GTX 1080 & GTX 1070

The Nvidia GTX 1070 ti is here. The card fits into an interesting place, between the GTX 1070 and the GTX 1080. You will see several different versions of this card, but notice that they are all at or around the stock speed. The reason for this is likely due to the fact that overclocked or extreme-edition cards would probably be about as fast as a stock GTX 1080, thus cannibalizing on that market some. So, you are paying extra for the fancier PCB, heatsink, VRM, etc. so you can better overclock the card yourself. Check prices: MSI GTX 1070…
