highLANder - Highest Mountaintop LAN Party Ever - Tek Syndicate Official Video

Tek Syndicate, Austin Evans, Newegg, and Linus Media Group scale a mountain in an attempt to break the world record for "highest altitude terrestrial lan party".

Here is the official video from Tek Syndicate. Let us know what you think. We would love to do more videos like this.

Thanks to the sponsors: ASUS, Intel, and Corsair. You can check out the laptop that we used on the summit (plus a gaming bundle) on Newegg here: bit.ly/g550jk

Also, the ASUS ASUS RT-AC68U AC router did a good job managing loads of connections simultaneously over WiFi. Check it out here: http://amzn.to/1kun4i9

Also, thanks to: Linus Media Group, Austin Evans, the NeweggTV. It was epic.

Here are the other videos:

Who did the filming and editing, it looks amazing!

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

This video is 97% Tek Syndicate footage. Albert shot almost all of it, I shot a few things, Jimmy shot a couple of things. We borrowed two shot from Newegg and maybe one from Austin Evans. This is Tek Syndicate with a very small budget.

I did all of the editing and the custom music.

WOW, love the video. Great job on editing... it was epic

So is he going to join the Tek Syndicate team?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Wow. Great editing, Logan! It looked very professional.

And also a great job to Albert, if he ends up reading this!

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Damn that must have been awesome. Wish I could have been there! Awesome footage as well. How long did it take you guys to lose the majority of your altitude sickness?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Even with a Small Budget it really felt like I was watching a Small Documentary there for a bit. this is one awesome MF'ing video right here. lol

The end to end "feel" of this video was incredible. It really shows how diverse and well skilled the team is with the original music, router hacks, great humour and incredible camera work. Best Tek Syndicate video so far. I really hope you guys get the funding you need to keep making amazing content like this. Bravo! Really digging the colour grading as well, was it all shot on the 5D?

Whats next, on a boat in the middle of the ocean?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

That happens every day on USN vessels. My friends and I would sit back on laptops when not working and play borderlands on an adhoc network for hours.

In a cave?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

This is just sick. I'm actually kind of jealous I wasn't there.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

That was truly insane. Makes me wish I could've been there, the scenery, the epicness of the concept. I'm beyond impressed. I gotta wonder though, which died first the laptop batteries or the router's?

Great video and I really liked the new music. Looked like one hell of an experience.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

This is awesome!

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

That video was a hell of a lot more epic then I was expecting. Damn good job guys, also gotta ask if some of the music in the video was made for highLANder, or just music from your albums?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

It's new stuff and will be on the new album.

That was wayy cool! This must be an annual thing now. Play games in an extreme environment 2015

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

The intro really reminded me of an Anthony Bourdain video, awesome job!

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Your video is the best without a doubt. Awesome job guys!

Splendiferous effort Tek Syndicate, It's great way to demonstrate the capabilities of the Asus equipment at high-altitudes, but, also the capabilities of all who participated in the LAN party climb.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Nice! Wish I could have gone. I do say your video is the best of them all, however I don't have Newegg's video to compare it to.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Wow this is just amazing.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Man I Wish I could have gone as well.heh, Linus's Vid was about 30% Linus & Slick complaining...... (go figure)

Tek Syndicate, Austin Evans, Newegg, and Linus Media Group scale a mountain in an attempt to break the world record for "highest altitude terrestrial lan party".

So did you guys set an official record that will be recorded in Guiness Book of World Records?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

yes they did !

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

I really wish I could have gone, that looked like a lot of fun.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

So what's next? XD, props to everyone who made it up there. Also some really neat shots from the mountain.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

I wonder how well the fan(s) could have kept the CPU and GPU cool at such a high altitude (if they were doing anything very taxing anyway)? Thinner air would cool much less efficiently I would imagine.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Beautifully shot and edited! Great job guys. I've been looking forward to this for as long as you guys have! Feel so proud to be a fan!

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Best vid thus far. Hellayeah

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Did you guys screen-record? We all pretty much know who won, but it would be cool to see regardless of that fact.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

So Qain was the lan party winner?

Nice job guys this was great.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

It was really fun to watch. I like the documentary feel you had going with it. And the music was great.

For highLANder II, everyone should do a video review at the summit. It would obviously have to be something simple, but I'd love to see it since everyone involved with this got started from hardware reviews.

As it is though I have to admit this was probably the best video you guys have ever done, I hope you guys manage to do more videos like this one.

P.S. Is there any chance we will get to see more Albert?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Great video! Did you guys use the notebooks as they come or did you have to swap out the HDD for an SSD since almost all mechanical hard drives are only rated to operate at up to 10,000 ft.? My guess would be not, but you never know.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Great stuff.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Awesome job.   So who got high score?

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

This was an epic video! Also highLANder is on Wikipedia on the LAN party page under notable events

"After DOOM....comes Descent"

I hope you did, what I think you did there.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

Please tell me you recorded the gameplay. I want to see it with commentary by Qain.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

I wish we had game footage, it would have been hilarious.  Rockets everywhere.

posted 10 months 2 weeks ago

At 12:00 , when you said "After Doom... Comes Descent", I didn't think you meant 'Actual Descent'. I thought you guys were gonna play Descent over LAN.
