Achieva Shimian 27" 2560x1440 Monitor (qh270)

Perhaps we got lucky, but this Shimian qh270 seems to be in perfect working order. No dead pixels, no scratches, no issues.

Wendell grabbed an Achieva Shimian 27" 2560 x 1440 Monitor from Korea. After a few days with it he is ready to order several more. Here's the specs:

  • Resolution: 2560 x 1440
  • Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
  • Brightness: 350 cd/m2
  • Response Time: 6 ms
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Model: QH270-lite
  • Panel Type: IPS
  • Video Inputs: Dual Link DVI
  • LED Side Lit

The IPS panel is good for just about any angle. The light is a bit brighter on the sides due to the fact that it is side lit, not back lit. For $350 shipped there isn't much to complain about other than the glare:

The bezel is blurry because I was focusing on the glare. It can be pretty bad if you are shining lights on it or if the it is facing a window. If you are usinging it in a dark room it looks fine. It also worked perfectly in an office environment with overhead lights.

I snapped a few more pictures the other day. Check those out here

Lastly, I know the title in the video says 17". The first time I rendered it as 2650x1440, lol. I decided to leave it. It's a 27" monster. I didn't feel like rendering for a third time!

Is this an IPS panel? And is there a noticeable difference between 2ms and 6ms while gaming?

This is an IPS panel... and I didn't notice any ghosting at all. I have been using a 5ms panel for a long while. I have an Asus panel with a 2ms response time but the color and contrast on this Shimian blow it away.

i can notice a diffrence between a 2ms and 5ms or higher i knwo some otehr epop[le who can as well but for a casual gamer you wouldnt notice

Yeah... there is a difference. But I didn't notice any egregious ghosting.

BUT, is it better than my Dell U2711 Ultrasharp? :o

EDIT: I guess not, Glare = boooo

better than the Dell U2711? No. The color is about as good and the contrast is good... really, it's all about price for this one. IF the U2711 was the same price (or $75 more) I would recommend it.

Got a question for ya. I have a gtx 560 ti Factory OC. Am I required to use both dvi ports for one monitor or can I get away with one port for one monitor because I was hoping to have 2 of these displays for my workstation.

You only need one Dual Link DVI cable to run a 2560x1440p display.

Hi Logan - Two questions if you will (or anyone else that knows)...

1. How did you get these monitors the turn 90 degrees? It doesn't look like they come with turnable stands.2. THEY AREN'T $350!!! They're $470 + Shipping - Da F is that about? Do you think their costs change based on supply in deman, or am I looking at the wrong 270?
