ArmA 3 Devs Arrested, Charged with Espionage For Taking Photos

Two developers from Bohemia Interactive have been arrested and charged with espionage in Greece. They were simply taking photos in tourist areas. Video and links inside. Let's help them!

I just opened my inbox to find this. I am just going to paste the entire message here, because it's faster and I want to get this info out asap:

Dear Logan,
If you don't already know, two of the Bohemia Interactive staff (creators of ARMA series) have been arrested in Greece on charges of "espionage" when taking photos of the landscape on the Island of Lemnos. They have been detained and could face 20 years in a Greek prison if found guilty of the charges held against them. I thought as this is a topic that many people in the Tek Syndicate community might want to know about so I thought I would message you.

Here is some of the information that I have gathered on the topic.

Unless they have some restrictions on taking such pictures (penalty looks too harsh anyway), Greece is economically and politically fucked. Whose idea was it originally to prosecute anyone taking pictures of a landscape? Do they have fear of terrorism? Are they politically brainwashed? Or are they purposefully trying to "detain" the pair for something; implying that they (the prosecutors) are the bad guys?

Greece is trying to claim that they entered restricted military areas and took photos of military bases. As far as I can tell this is bullshit. All the photos and video they took was in public areas where any tourist is allowed to go. There must be some kind of political agenda going on because this is just rediculous.

For all the people complaining about actions taken by Greece I am sorry to inform you that this video is missleading and un true. These 2 where caught in an area that was not open to tourists and an area that clearly had no photo signs. I am 10000% sure if the same thing happened in the states there would be more strict actions taken. I am Greek this was on the news, with evidence of their location etc. Now I highly doubt they will be put to prison for 20 years, and I do not by any means think its the right thing to do, but for the people that do not know what is happening in Greece and how many wars we have been with the neighbouring countries EVERY1 is suspicious. Same thing would of happened with the states if they had 3-4 wars with Canada, they wouldnt be happy if people where taking pictures of their military bases or whatever.

Same way you wouldnt sneak into area 51 the shouldnt of sneaked in military fields (area 51 is the first thing that came to mind lol:P)

Anw I hope that these 2 are set free, Greece isn't a country that would leave them 2 rot and I am almost entirely sure that they will be set free sooner or later.

Could you provide further details on what evidence was given for them actually having been in a restricted area? How do you know the local media is telling the truth, or was even told the truth from the authorities?

In the states, people wouldn't be allowed in those areas to begin with, so Greece failed on that end.

Bet they didn't have any security guarding the entrance, nor any warning for tourists.

Regardless if they took explicit photos of military bases or not, if they were in a military area then they are probably going to be charged with something.

I hope they are free to go soon, doesnt bohemia have any permits to take photos?

In any case the US government should jump on this and do some good for a change.

I really think they were somewere they were not supposed to be. The video makes it seem like they are in North Korea or some shit. I just find it hard to believe they jsut arrested the  devs for no reason.
