The Verge recently spotted this patent, in which Apple is claiming ownership of a shape. This is going to turn into a legal mess.
Apple loves to sue. They attack anything that looks, feels, functions, or even smells like one of their products, even if the product in question came before the Apple equivalent. This patent is going to be the beginning of a war against the ultrabook. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Asus will be first in line for Apple's over-active legal team. The Zenbook is easily mistaken for a Macbook Air (by the masses, not us).
The real question is this: How far will this go? Is the USPTO really going to allow patents like these to exist? How many companies will Apple Sue? Apple has been using Intel's chips in many of their recent products. However, the Ultrabook spec from Intel looks just like the figures in this patent. Will Apple go so far as to sue Intel?
Apple continues to be the bully on the playground... You know, the one that takes everyone else's toys and beats up the kids that resist. I think we should all take a moment and facepalm.
