AMD Partners Working on Radeon 7970x2

The 7970x2 should compete with the GTX 690 in terms of speed. If the price it right, this could be an interesting option.

AMD is allowing their partners a lot of freedom with the 7970x2. I'm guessing that the meetings went something like this:

(Dramatization)
AMD Partners: "The Nvidia GTX 690 is insanely fast."
AMD: "What are we going to do?"
AMD Partners: "Why don't we take two of those 28nm tahiti cores and slap them onto one PCB? Call it a 7970x2."
AMD: "Good thinking. Will it compete with the GTX 690?"
AMD Partners: "We'll make damn sure of it... just let us mess with the specs a bit."
AMD: "Make it so!"

The card will likely compete with the GTX 690 in terms of speed and may even be a little less expensive. I'll see if can get my hands on one for review.

Sadly your right, while Nvidia is kicking "ass!"...theres not enough cards to go around for everyone =(. Please Nvidia, " Y U NO TAKE MY MONEY?".

I'm not a big AMD fan, no real reason other than their drivers but what's going to happen is that AMD is going to have the upper hand in sales because Nvidia just can't produce the 680's and 690's fast enough. I had the money for two 680's and decided to just wait for Nvidia's new flagship because every retailer has been sold out for months. So good luck to both companies. It'll be nice to see another dual-gpu card from AMD, the 4870x2 sure did turn some heads a few years ago.

I hope to see, after AMD says they are backing out of the CPU wars with intel(http://m.tomshardware.com/news/amd-intel-cpu-apu-processors,15741.html)that they still continue to produce graphics cards. They have always been quite impressive. Now they just need to focus on writting the drivers with a little more effort xD

^It's the only reason they can think of to dislike AMD.
