For starters, it has an integrated AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU. This 16-core/32-thread CPU is an absolute beast. It's about 90% as fast as its desktop counterpart and that goes up to 95% when only the single-core performance is measured. It also features two SODIMM slots rather than the full-sized ram slots. Beyond that, it's a MATX board with some interesting options, and perhaps, some even more interesting omissions. I've used Synology NAS units for years and years. Last year, I got a UGREEN NASync DXP4800 (sent to me by Ugreen), and it's a very similar unit in terms of size and functionality... however the hardware is far more powerful. So, the question is this: Is the Synology software good enough to get you to buy a lower-spec unit? At this point, the Ugreen UGOS software has improved to the point where I think it should meet most peoples' needs. Synology certainly still has an edge in this department, but it's getting closer.
