I know some of you have been building hackintosh rigs for one reason or another. A bloger and hackintosh builder "tonymacx86" says that the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H board is the most compatible board he has tested thus far.
Usually, when you build a hackintosh, you have to worry about everything from the audio drivers to the wake/ sleep functionality. I've had so many headaches with these things I don't want to even talk about it. Also, with most motherboards you have to do some BIOS modding. If you do it wrong OSX goes into kernel panic.
The Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H does not need any BIOS mods and it runs great with most native Apple drivers. The audio works out of the box, the Atheros ethernet controller works fine, the sleep/ wake functionality is good to go, and the integrated graphics (on a Core i5 2500K he used to test) all worked!
If anyone is doing a build let me know. I'd like to hear if you run into any trouble (or if not).

posted 1 year 2 weeks agoI'm thinking of doing this since i already have a case, power supply as well as hard drives and dvd drive. does it matter what CPU is used? i3 or low end i5? I don't really need an exspensive one because all I really want to do is learn and mess around with the OS.

Do you know if we can use mSATA for the system then the 5 SATA for datas disk...

posted 2 months 1 week agoThis is probably due to the weirdness with their RSS feed. Upon subscribing to the feed it gives you all the recent stuff like it should do, but also randomly sends you articles from months ago at seemingly random. I'm not sure if this happens when someone comments or if there isn't any rhyme or reason at all, but I've been subscribed for months and it's still doing it (the proof being that I was just notified of this article today!)
